“Coco McAtee, I thank the stars everyday that we had that conversation and I decided to have you come and talk with my Girl Scouts. That is one of the best things I think I ever did for those girls..."

Technology: Friend or Foe?
The makers of these “tools” may not have had a clue how they would be used in the hands of developing and ignorant youth. As adults who care for kids, we can be overwhelmed with so many parenting tasks. This technology though has serious consequences and why you need other allies to keep abreast of what your kids are up to on screens. Talk to your friends parents and develop a pack to tell one another if kids are misusing their devices and sending inappropriate material to friends …or potential foes. With the anonymity factor, kids think this “sharing” has few consequences. Tragically, kids are bullied because of texting and sexting, and driven to hurting themselves to the point of suicide. Set guidelines for when a child “earns” a device, phone or ipod, or internet use at home.
