“Coco McAtee, I thank the stars everyday that we had that conversation and I decided to have you come and talk with my Girl Scouts. That is one of the best things I think I ever did for those girls..."

Telling the Truth About Bodies

Fifty Shades of Goodness

March 8, 2015

A Better Direction
So much hype about the book series and now major motion picture 50 Shades of Gray.  When the book came out, tons of women I knew were literally devouring the book.  I heard some comments about how it shows that women can get their ‘fantasies’ or their needs met finally by a man.

Upon further investigating, without reading the book, I learned that the book features a relationship where there is required ‘signed contract’ by a younger female who is then a part of a domination relationship.

Someone explained that the follow up books talk about how the male main character had an abusive childhood that was marked by an adult dominating him.
I have been telling folks that I don’t have an interest in reading the book but would like to suggest instead, FIFTY SHADES OF GOODNESS.

Remember the effort “Kindness is Contagious”  or the still popular “Pay it Forward” or “Random Acts of Kindness”?

Let’s move in that direction and encourage those who have been hurt, humiliated, used and abused to seek help so they don’t continue subjecting themselves to humiliating, hurtful and abusive relationships and those they encounter.

Be Well!
