“Coco McAtee, I thank the stars everyday that we had that conversation and I decided to have you come and talk with my Girl Scouts. That is one of the best things I think I ever did for those girls..."

Telling the Truth About Bodies

Women in Tiaras

Gender Equity… A Marathon of a Race for True Equality
This photo captures me with two wonderful women who attended the church women’s retreat where I was the keynote speaker in March.  You probably can’t tell, but we are wearing little tiara’s that I brought for all 80+ participants.  The tiaras were a part of one of my talks about all of us being the “crowned jewels of creation”.

Biblically speaking, after God created all manner of things and culminates in the creation of humans, we are deemed the crown jewels of creation.  BOTH of us–Male and Female.
I had a little ceremony where we circled the whole room and turned to a partner and “crowned” one another with a blessing.  People were so moved by this gesture.  To consider oneself the crown jewel was not an idea familiar to the women.

KNOW this… men are the crown jewels too.  Both of us are uniquely and equally wonderful in our Creator’s eyes and heart.

If you click on the link below about the first woman to enter the Boston Marathon in 1967, it will likely be a shock but it is factual.  AND, this belief system is still alive and well in the world regarding women.

YET, let us keep in mind that men have certainly enjoyed a privilege that women have not, and they are imprisoned by destructive beliefs about being male too.  NO EXCUSES for horrible behavior.  I simply hope to we can work to resurrect the core beauty and strength inherent in each of us, gay, straight, black, white, purple, green, female, male—–ALL Human beings loved and cherished by God. One ‘type’ or version of human is not better than another.
